The Functional Structure of Consciousness: Perceptibility, Psychism and Mediumship

For centuries, man has confused sensitivity, subtle perception and mediumship. Everyday language has lumped everything together under a single term: medium. — a conceptual confusion I analyze in detail in

And yet these states belong to distinct levels of human consciousness. Noetic teaching distinguishes them according to three distinct functions of human consciousness: perceptibility, psychism and mediumship.

Perceptibility corresponds to a function of heightened receptivity of the human field, whose senses and magnetic field are more open than average.
This function, when it expresses itself markedly in certain individuals, is described more specifically in
A Perceptible Person.
It picks up the emotions, thoughts, energetic densities and vibratory variations of beings, places and events. This aptitude has nothing supernatural about it: it corresponds to a hyper-receptivity of the nervous system and of the conscious field.

When it is balanced, it becomes a tool of fine observation and human intelligence.
When it is ignored, it leads to confusion, mental fatigue and emotional drift. This is the state of the highly sensitive person, that is, an uncontrolled perceptibility, poorly explained in our era today, which creates a great deal of confusion and illness. — a misinterpretation I analyze in

The work of CEPEU teaches the perceptible person to order what they sense and to recognize the source of their impressions — whether they come from the physical, psychic or spiritual plane.

Psychism corresponds to a conscious function of action and mental influence: having disciplined their thought and clarified their mind, one can act consciously on the fields of others. It directs thought, energy and vibration; it influences biological and emotional systems through concentration and pure will.

This is neither suggestion nor manipulation, but a bringing into resonance of invisible structures.
The Psychist acts without trance, in total lucidity.
He remains master of his inner instrument and knows how to use thought as a creative force.

This is the domain of la Vision Noétique Structurée (VNS), of Mental Influence and of the Mental Treatment, where consciousness becomes a tool of action.

Mediumship corresponds to a transitory function of involuntary transmission beyond human intention.

He does not induce the trance: the trance takes him.
It is a spontaneous opening, not induced by man, in which a higher-order energy passes through the human system to transmit a word, a vibration or a teaching.
The medium is not conscious: they are in a secondary state, close to sleep or deep trance.
The center of direction shifts: they are no longer the author, they become a channel.
This state cannot be prolonged: it is brief, intense and always oriented toward a higher purpose — never to entertain or seduce.

It is an act of service between planes, in which invisible intelligence manifests through a prepared being. Thus mediumship is not a practice, but a natural phenomenon of the evolution of consciousness, at the moment when consciousness reaches the frequency of the universal Spirit.

These three degrees are not opposed to one another: they form a ladder of evolution of human consciousness. Each being progressively develops these functions — perceptibility, psychism and sometimes mediumship — according to their inner maturation and their level of conscious structuring, and sometimes as far as mediumship, not by will, but through inner preparation. This is the path of service, clarity and mastery.
